Parents: what has helped most with after-school meltdowns?

Posted by arben · 4 days ago · 31 replies · 723 views
My 9-year-old completely falls apart after school. Like clockwork. 3:30pm hits and everything is loud, explosive, or tearful.

I know it's emotional regulation and accumulated stress from holding it together all day. But knowing the cause and knowing what to actually do are different things.

What's helped in your house? Specifically around the transition from school to home?

Great question. For me, it depends on the task. When I need deep focus I use 40hz binaural beats — not brown noise on its own. The key is getting the volume right: quiet enough to not be intrusive, loud enough to mask distractions.
